Biddeford Youth Arts Scholarship fund (a Heart of Biddeford 501(c)(3) initiative) strives to remove financial barriers for children and youth eager to explore arts enrichment opportunities. Scholarships support visual art, dance, theater, and music lessons. Scholarships will cover tuition for community-based arts education in Biddeford, Maine.
While Biddeford is experiencing a cultural renaissance, many families still face
economic challenges that make arts programming inaccessible. We believe that cost
shouldn't hinder creativity, self-expression, and personal growth. Yet, local arts
classes often require fees that are out of reach for many families. This program
ensures that all children-regardless of household income can benefit from the
confidence, skill-building, community connections, and personal fulfillment that arts
participation fosters. This scholarship program directly invests in Biddeford's next
generation of artists, performers, and creative thinkers, making the arts a real option
for every kid, not just those who can afford it.

Biddeford Youth Arts Scholarship Fund – Applications Open August 1, 2025
The Biddeford Youth Arts Scholarship (BYAS) Fund is a community initiative designed to create equitable access to the arts for children and youth in Biddeford. This fund provides scholarships for students under 18 to participate in local visual and performing arts programs—including art classes, dance, theater, and music lessons. Scholarships can cover tuition and essential materials for extracurricular, community-based arts education offered by small, local arts businesses in Biddeford.

How It Works:

The Biddeford Youth Arts Scholarship (BYAS) Fund is available to youth ages 18 and under, who reside at least part time in Biddeford and who are wishing to participate in programming with one of the BYAS Fund partner organizations.

Scholarship availability may vary based on available funds, class openings, and timing.

Separate applications should be completed for multiple children in one family

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis and reviewed in the order they are received.

Students/families will be notified within five (5) business days of application submission by email, phone, and/or mail.

If approved, scholarship funds will be paid directly to the arts program the student will attend.
By submitting an application, families grant permission for the BYAS Fund to coordinate directly with the arts program regarding enrollment and payment.
