Service Description
Homeschool Portfolio Development is an advanced art lesson for homeschool children, designed to deepen understanding of the impact that art has had on civilization while tapping into each student’s artistic voice. This year-long (Sept.-May) program is broken into quarters each exploring a segment of the art history timeline. Each week kids will gain targeted skills in specific art media with a goal of becoming fluent in materials to develop a personal final piece to be added to a portfolio. Students will get the opportunity to show their work in our public gallery space to get the feel of a real practicing artist! We will be working 2-d with pencil, graphite, pastel, pen and ink and marker and 3-d with clay, found object, cardboard, paper mache and much more. We will also go on several walking field trips throughout the mill to see how professional artists make a career out of what they love.
